I'm looking into it and more than likely going to hire one but I was wondering if anyone that reads this has had a doula or known someone that has.... =]

Doulas are awesome. I didn't have one, personally, but have heard so much good stuff about them. :)
My friend Michael is one in CT: http://www.comfortbirth.com which probably isn't anywhere near where you are... But you can always look up local doulas on DONA or even contact your birthing center or hospital to see if they have any listings of doulas. Often doulas give their information to the nurse that gives maternity tours.
i said i was still debating and really leary bc i was so close and i didn't know how i felt about having a stranger help me through labor.... but i guess usually you just have a couple meetings before you go into labor and basically discuss what you want. and they said its not too late and i'm getting the same care as anyone else.
so, i decided that i'm looking into it. i have a meeting with one on tues. i'll keep you updated.
