notes I took during Carter's labor

Ok, so I didn't take ANY notes during Carter's labor... I just didn't have time!!

So I want to share the things I read and re-read to gear me up for my VBAC.

Songs:
Stand in the Rain by Superchick
(chorus)
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain

Tunnel by Third Day
I won't pretend to know what you're thinking
I can't begin to know what you're going through
I won't deny the pain that you're feeling
But I'm gonna try and give a little hope to you

Just remember what I've told you
There's so much you're living for

[Chorus]
There's a light at the end of this tunnel
There's a light at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you
There's a light at the end of this tunnel
Shinin' bright at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you

So keep holdin' on

You've got your disappointments and sorrows
You ought to share the weight of that load with me
Then you will find that the light of tomorrow
It brings a new life for your eyes to see

Proud by Heather Small
I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I'm on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same (yeah)

What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom

Birth Affirmations

I am calm and face my labor calmly

My body knows how to give birth and I will let it

I am strong and I can let my contractions be strong

My baby will be born easily at the right time

I am proud of my body

I am able to make the best possible choices for a healthy, joyful birth

I trust my body to labor smoothly and efficiently

My pelvis is releasing and opening, as have those of countless women before me

I can say no and still be respected

I feel the love of those supporting me

I choose thoughts and beliefs that strengthen me

I am in control of my mind, my body and my choices

I take responsibility for my choices

Childbirth is a normal, healthy event

I fully feel the force of new life within me

The power of birth strengthens me, my child and my partner

I trust my body to labor smoothly and efficiently

Labor only demands from me the strength I possess

I have the energy and stamina to birth my baby

My Body knows how to have this baby just as my body knew how to grow this baby

I am ready and prepared for childbirth

Each contraction produces a healthy, positive pain that I can handle

I will be holding my baby soon.
